What if my contractor's estimate is higher than my settlement check?
Your insurance company will pay your claim using industry standard pricing for labor and materials. If the contractor’s estimate is higher based solely on pricing of labor and materials, we can often negotiate for more coverage. If your contractors estimate includes work that has not been covered, but you feel it should be, you should contact your Public Adjuster immediately to discuss the difference in the scope of work. If your contractor’s estimate includes upgrades – for example, replacing your damaged carpeting with marble flooring – we will not be able to secure coverage for the difference in price of those upgrades.
